Garden Tunnel
We are delighted to share the fruits of our collaboration with Studio Bednarski. This proposal is for an ingenious tunnel under the River Thames in London designed for pedestrian and cycle use, and we hope to promote a conversation around the more visionary use of underground space. We passionately believe that a tunnel option should be perceived as neither boring nor expensive.

Trans-Pennine Tunnel Study
Working in collaboration with Benchmark Estimating and WSP, we undertook a tunnel study for Highways England (now National Highways) which explored the feasibility of a new tunnel to bypass the treacherous Woodhead Pass. Despite being a critical route between Manchester and Sheffield, this stretch of the A628 is frequently congested and suffers frequent closures due to poor weather and accidents.
We undertook a review of the available ground data and developed an appropriate construction strategy. We then produced an outline design for an 8km long tunnel in sufficient detail for planning and costing purposes. We also prepared a detailed cost estimate, risk allowance and programme for the D&C Contract.
At the end of this study, we produced a number of visualisations to aid the public consultation process.
